CYCLE OF SUPPORT: BIKE4KEF 2025 - A Community Celebration of KEF
BIKE4KEF, one of North West London’s most beloved community events, took place this past Sunday, and the energy is still rippling across the community. This year’s theme, “Cycle of Support,” captured the spirit of the day and the heart of KEF - not only the wheels spinning across London and beyond, but also the powerful, ongoing network of love, care, and community that KEF fosters.
KEF was founded in 2006 by Benny and Shelley Groszman and Shmulik and Channi Halpern, with their children Michali and Nuchi z'l and just two other children. Over the past nineteen years, the organisation has grown into a vital source of support for over 100 families. Tragically and unexpectedly, Nuchi passed away just a few months ago; he leaves a painful and unimaginable void for his family and for everyone at KEF. However, his huge legacy of this special organisation built purely on the desire to help others and lessen their burden will ensure that Nuchi will never be forgotten. This year’s BIKE4KEF ride was a tribute to that legacy.
264 cyclists participated in this year’s ride, choosing from the 50km, 100km, or 100-mile routes. Together, they rode over 21,000km — each kilometre filled with purpose, and each rider powered by the knowledge that their effort was supporting children with disabilities and their families.
With glorious sunshine and 30-degree heat setting the scene, the event was meticulously organised, supported by marshals, medics, mechanics, and pit stops to ensure a smooth ride for all participants. The ride culminated in Hendon Park, which once again transformed into a vibrant finish line celebration where riders were warmly welcomed by their families and KEF children. Excitement and joy permeated the park as the exhausted yet proud riders arrived and the celebration extended to a range of activities, including a fantastic BBQ and music, making it a fantastic family day.
More than £775,000 was raised through the generosity of over 11,000 donations, showcasing the strength of this ever-growing Cycle of Support and a community celebration of KEF’s mission, its incredible volunteers, and the transformative difference it makes to so many lives.
Feedback from the riders has been overwhelmingly positive. One rider who joined BIKE4KEF for the first time shared, “The organisation, the energy and the atmosphere was all spot on. I am still aching head to toe, but honestly it was one of the most meaningful and inspiring things I've ever taken part in.' An emotional message from a KEF mother attending the event: “Thank you for making all this possible, for seeing our struggles, the struggles of our kids and enabling KEF to continue - because without you there is no KEF. When we see you riding to the park it gives us so much encouragement and strength!”
BIKE4KEF 2025 showed us once again what KEF truly stands for; it is not just a charity, but a family. One where every mile matters, every volunteer counts, and every act of kindness keeps the Cycle of Support turning. Thank you to all riders, donors, volunteers, sponsors, and the phenomenal BIKE4KEF committee for making this year’s ride one to remember — and a meaningful tribute to Nuchi’s life, love and legacy.
