CHANUKAH 2025

12/2025

Over 250 family members joined KEF’s annual Family Pre-Chanukah Party last Motzei Shabbos, enjoying an evening filled with joy, warmth and celebration.

Parents and family members enjoyed a fabulous buffet in the KEF Centre, featuring fresh pizza-making, a pasta bar, and an assortment of delicious treats. Music, games and art workshops kept children and families entertained throughout the evening. Volunteers were on hand throughout to support both the KEF child and their siblings, enabling parents to relax, connect with one another and enjoy the evening confident that their children were being lovingly cared for.

The younger children began their night off-site with an energetic session at Flip Out Brent Cross, supported by KEF’s dedicated volunteers. They were then transported to the KEF Centre to join the rest of the families for engaging activities and a much-anticipated doughnut bar.

Parents expressed how much the evening meant to them and their families.  One parent shared, it happened at exactly the right time. It was a really hectic Shabbos where XX just wanted to jump onto the table and kitchen sides at every given moment. It wasn't easy for all the kids, but they were all amazing about it. It was just so perfect that after that type of Shabbos, they could have this amazing night out.” Experiences like this reflect the true purpose of KEF’s family events: to provide a supportive, uplifting and inclusive environment.

The atmosphere of warmth and belonging was echoed by many families, including one family who shared, “we really felt the warmth from beginning to end… we don’t think we can ever get enough of the acceptance and love our son receives.  It feels like an extension of our own love for him, and for that we are so grateful.”

As Chanukah reminds us of the power of light in the darkest of times, KEF continues to bring light to the lives of children and young adults with disabilities and their families. KEF’s respite and support services provide essential support to both the individual and their wider family network. With services now oversubscribed and a growing waiting list, KEF remains committed to expanding and strengthening its vital work.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our volunteers, supporters and staff whose dedication makes events like these possible. Wishing the entire community a Happy Chanukah!
