SHABBATONS 2026

03/2026

KEF Pre-Pesach Joy & Respite

As the community prepares for Pesach, KEF has been creating meaningful, uplifting experiences for children and young adults with disabilities and for their families.

Over the past weeks, KEF successfully ran three Shabbatons, each tailored to different age groups, supporting over 50 children and young adults. Each programme was thoughtfully designed to meet a wide range of needs, ensuring that every participant could enjoy a warm, inclusive, and enriching Shabbos experience. These events were made possible with the support of over 100 dedicated volunteers in various roles; our heartfelt thanks go to all volunteers, heads and the medical team for their care, dedication, and energy.

For families caring for children with complex needs, the day-to-day demands can be intense, physically and emotionally exhausting. The Shabbatons provide essential respite, a precious opportunity for parents to rest, recharge, and enjoy a weekend free from their caregiving responsibilities with the knowledge that their children are safe, happy and well cared for.

As one grateful parent shared “The atmosphere was so lovely when I dropped her off on Friday. We really appreciated our relaxing Shabbos; we are so grateful to all of you for giving her such a great time and taking care of all her needs.”

Dr Moshe Dovid Spitzer, who attended one of the weekends as in-house GP together with his family, commented “It’s an absolute privilege to spend Shabbos together with the inspirational young people of our Kehilla, who devote so much love, care and patience to the children of KEF”.

These Shabbatons are just one part of KEF’s lifeline of support. Alongside weekly programmes, the buddy scheme, and ad hoc assistance, KEF provides ongoing support to families, particularly in the busy run-up to Pesach. This holistic approach ensures families are not just managing but truly supported and connected to a caring community.

We now look forward to our upcoming Chol Hamoed outings, continuing to bring joy and meaningful experiences to KEF children and their families.

Wishing the community a Chag Kasher V’Sameach.
